1. Failed Start Capacitor (the Classic)
The start capacitor gives the motor the electrical kick it needs to begin spinning. When it fails, you get the textbook symptom: the motor hums, maybe clicks, but never kicks over. It's the single most common cause of a humming pump.

2. Jammed Impeller
