This page decodes every Jandy AquaPure salt-system service code — the customer-visible 120-series codes and the tech-level 180-series behind them — plus TruClear panel messages, with the safe checks for each. Several of these codes are voltage and board faults: we're the Pinellas County company licensed for the electrical side of these repairs (EC13011994, CPC1459998).

Quick orientation: AquaPure shows two layers of codes. Level 1 codes (120–175) appear on the display. Level 2 codes (180–195) are the underlying diagnostic that generates a Level 1 code — a technician reads those from the service menu. Salt readings assume a target of roughly 3.0–3.5 gpl.
Level 1 Service Codes (What You See on the Display)
120 / 121 — Low current to the cell
The system is pushing less current through the salt cell than it should — code 120 in the forward direction, 121 in reverse. The usual causes are a scaled or worn cell, or a poor DC cord connection at the cell.
Try this first:
- Inspect the cell for white calcium scale and clean it per Jandy's acid-wash procedure.
- Verify salt is around 3.0–3.5 gpl with independent test strips.
123 — Extremely low current to the cell
Same family as 120/121, but severe: the cell is heavily scaled, at end of life, or the DC cord has failed.
Try this first:
- Clean the cell and check the cord ends for corrosion — unplug at the cell connector only.
124 — Higher-than-normal current to the cell
Per the AquaPure code guide, code 124 indicates a back-board fault. There's no meaningful homeowner check for it.
125 — Cell needs cleaning (low output)
Chlorine output has dropped below target. Usually a scaled cell; sometimes a tri-sensor issue or a cell at end of life (see code 194, the classic end-of-life signature).
Try this first:
- Clean the cell and verify the salt level with test strips.
- Power-cycle the system once.

Salt System & Salt Cell RepairOur Service Areas126 / 127 — Low cell current plus low voltage
The cell current is low and the voltage feeding it is low — pointing at supply voltage, the transformer, or the back board rather than the cell (126 forward, 127 reverse).
Try this first:
- Check the breaker feeding the system and confirm nothing else on the pad is tripping.
144 — Low salinity (below 2.0 gpl)
The system reads salt below 2.0 gpl. Real causes include not enough salt, dilution from heavy rain or splash-out — a regular event in a Pinellas summer — or cold water: below about 60 °F the reading runs artificially low.
Try this first:
- Test the salt independently with strips before trusting the display.
- If genuinely low, add pool salt toward 3.0–3.5 gpl — let it dissolve fully and retest before adding more.
145 — High salinity (above 4.0 gpl)
The system reads salt above 4.0 gpl — either genuine over-salting or sensor drift.
Try this first:
- Test independently with strips; if truly high, partially drain and refill to dilute.
170 — Front board service condition / incorrect supply voltage
The front board reports a service condition, or the unit isn't receiving the correct 115 VAC — low AC voltage from the back board or a transformer issue.
Try this first:
- Check the breaker feeding the system. That's the only safe step.
171 — Back board service condition
The back board itself is faulting — commonly a defective board or an internal relay failure (Level 2 codes 189/190 underneath).
Try this first:
- Power-cycle the system once.
172 — Flow sensor not detecting flow
The flow sensor isn't seeing water movement — or the sensor itself has failed. Pump off, closed valves, a dirty sensor, or a loose sensor cable are the common causes.
Try this first:
- Confirm the pump is running, valves are open, and the filter is clean.
- Check that the sensor cable is plugged in — at the external connector only.
173 — Low input voltage or wiring error
The unit sees supply voltage that's too low or wired to the wrong tap — a wrong voltage tap or loose supply wiring at install is the classic cause.
Try this first:
- Check the breaker — nothing more.
174 — High water temperature (above 108 °F at the sensor)
The sensor reads water hotter than 108 °F — usually a spa-mode overshoot, occasionally a sensor error.
Try this first:
- Let the water cool, and verify actual water temperature with a real thermometer.
175 — Flow sensor airlock or very low salinity
Either air is trapped at the sensor or the salt level is near zero.
Try this first:
- Run the pump to purge trapped air.
- Verify salt with test strips.
Level 2 Codes 180–195 (The Diagnostic Underneath)
Each Level 2 code is what actually generates the Level 1 code on your display — a technician reads them from the service menu. They're listed here so you know what your tech is talking about; every one of them is a professional repair (the only homeowner-relevant note: 182 means the system sees essentially zero salt, and 194 — cell current 85% below target with cell voltage above 19 V — is the classic signature of an end-of-life salt cell).

Jandy TruClear Panel Messages
No Flow — flow switch not detecting enough water
The TruClear's flow switch isn't seeing roughly 20 GPM or better.
Try this first:
- Confirm the pump is on, baskets and filter are clean, and valves are open.
Check Cell — scaled or failing cell
The cell is scaled or on its way out.
Try this first:
- Turn the breaker off, inspect and clean the cell, then restore power.
Low salt — but your test strips disagree
When the panel says low salt and an independent test says otherwise, the real culprit is usually the flow switch or a scaled cell, not the salt. Note that genuinely cold water (below roughly 50 °F) also suppresses output legitimately — the system isn't broken on a cold January morning.
